Words from Our Rector

Dear Christ-St. Paul’s Family,

It is such a privilege to finally greet you as your new Rector! You have been on my mind and heart and in my prayers for the last month as I prepared to begin this journey with you. Kortney, Scotlyn, Banner, and I are blessed and overjoyed to be joining this wonderful CSP family.

Much like the “first 100” days of a new presidency, there are things I plan to accomplish. However, there is one thing I believe most important at the beginning; I simply want to get to know you.

My initial plan is to observe, learn, and get to know the people and culture that makeup life and ministry of this wonderful church. As followers of Christ, you are called to “do the work of the ministry” and one aspect of my role is to help you lean into that. My definition of ministry is simple: to discover where God is acting and join him on that mission. I look forward to getting to know you, your passions, your gifting, and those things God has called us to as one body in Christ.

On a different note, while you and I thought we were done with COVID-19, COVID-19 is not done with us. The rising number of cases across the country and in our local community warrant our attention as a responsible organization that meets together indoors. After speaking with Terry Jenkins (Senior Warden) and the staff, we believe it is necessary to provide space for those in the congregation who feel most comfortable wearing a mask and/or social distancing.

As was the practice a few months ago, the sides of the sanctuary with the pew seating will be reserved for those who desire to wear a mask and social distance. Furthermore, individual communion packets are available on the table up front on the right side of the sanctuary should you prefer.

Until we learn more and/or hear from the Bishop’s office regarding a need for greater precautions these will be the two ways we approach the lingering COVID-19 issue.

I know God has something special in store for us as we endeavor to build Christ’s kingdom together. If we rely on the Spirit to guide us and strengthen us, He who knows the mind of God will surely set us on the right path to accomplishing the will of God.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Kyle+
