Many do not know that the Anglican Church globally reprsents the third largest body of Christians behind the Roman Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Church. It’s significance within the greater Christian community throughout the last 500 years cannot be overstated.

Perhaps the best way to describe the theology and doctrine of the Anglican tribe is protestant and apostolic. That is, the Anglican Church was born within the period known as the English Reformation with a desire to reclaim apostolic biblical faith. It was not creating something new but returning to something old.

Various traditions make use of different forms to establish and grow faith in the life of the believers. The Anglican Church is possibly most known for its Book of Common Prayer (BCP) which is a chief source of faith formation and spiritual discipline.

As a historic denomination, much of its works of ministry are established in traditional liturgies (which means work of the people). Far from restrictive, these frameworks for ministry and practice create beautiful and powerful experiences of worship and formation.

The Anglican Church as a historic denomination has been at the forefront of gospel mission and global justice initiatives. There is a strong emphasis across the globe on sharing the faith and bringing healing to those on the margins - and those go hand-in-hand with the gospel of Jesus.
