Deacon L. Earl Sease, a Marine and Vietnam Veteran, graduated from The Citadel as a veteran student in 1972 with a degree in Business. He retired from The Prudential Insurance Company after 27 years of service as an insurance agent and financial planner before starting a small handyman construction business which he maintained for about 12 years. He has been a member of Old St. Andrew's Church, St. John's Church, John's Island, and since 2012, is currently at Christ-St. Paul's Church in Yonges Island. He has served on the vestries of St. John's and Christ-St. Paul's, serving as Junior Warden and Senior Warden at St. John's and as Junior Warden several times at Christ-St. Paul's. He was called into ministry when the Diocese was under the leadership of Bishop Mark Lawrence in 2020. Due to the pandemic, many delays caused the two-year diaconal training to ultimately come to fruition in 2024 when he was ordained by Bishop Chip Edgar. He currently serves as the first Deacon at Christ-St. Paul's Church where he continues his vocation in pastoral care ministry. He serves as the Church Minister weekly at the two Day Spring Assisted Living facilities on Yonges Island and John's Island. He assists with the Healing Service held weekly at Christ Church, Adam's Run. He and his wife, Trudy, have been married for 35 years and have a son, Les (Tammy) who have two grown children, Matthew and Annmarie, and a daughter, Suzanne Roberts (Travis) of Waterloo, Illinois, who have two grown sons, Brandon and Logan.
